Tucson Gem Show on a Budget: Free Shows, Free Buses, Cheap Parking (2027)
Ways to do the 2027 Tucson gem shows for less: most shows are free to enter, Sun Tran buses and the streetcar are currently fare-free, city garages charge $1.25/hour, and county camping starts at $10/night.
The Tucson showcase (Jan 27 – Feb 14, 2027) can cost very little beyond what you buy. Here's where the savings are, all from official sources.
Admission: mostly free
TucsonGemShow101 says most of the showcase (about 44 shows) is free and open to the public. The main paid show is the TGMS Main Show at the Convention Center (Feb 11 – 14): $15, a 2-day ticket for $26, children 14 and under free with a paying adult, and $2 off on Military & Senior Day (Fri, Feb 12). Details in our tickets guide.
Getting around: free transit
Sun Tran says all Sun Tran, Sun Link streetcar and Sun Express rides are fare-free at the direction of the Mayor and Council. Route 25 runs from the airport to downtown in about 40 minutes. See airport to the shows and shuttles and getting around.
Parking: free on the south side, cheap downtown
- Kino Gem & Mineral Show: free admission and free parking, per A.S. Shows.
- Downtown city garages: $1.25/hour on weekdays and a $3 flat rate after 5 pm at the City-State Garage, per the Downtown Tucson Partnership (rates since July 1, 2026). Meters are free on Sundays.
- Some tent-show lots charge $5 – $10, often cash only. See the parking guide.
Sleeping: camp or share
Pima County's Gilbert Ray Campground has $10/night tent sites and $35/night RV sites with hookups (reservation-only, 7-day limit). See RV parking and camping. Hotels fill up near the big shows, so book early: where to stay.
Eating
Many shows have food courts (Kino lists one on site). For sit-down meals near each cluster, see where to eat.
